Girl's Best Friend

Assalamualaikum and Hello buddy!

Okay, tonight I'm going to post about my new storybook. the title is Girl's Best Friend and this book is written by Leslie Mangolis. Actually, this book is one of the storybooks I bought from Scholastic before my final exam but since I want to concentrate on my exam, I stop reading storybooks for a while. so, when my final exam end about two weeks ago, I started read Girl's Best Friend.

This books is about Maggie Brooklyn, 12, who work as a dog walker as her after-school job in her neighborhood, Park slope. her parents do not know about her job except her twin brother, Finn who help her to keep the secret on her after-school job. so, Maggie walk a few dogs only such as Preston and Bean. Actually, that is not the problem.

The real problem is dogs are disappearing all over Park slope, and it's up to Maggie Brooklyn to figure out what's going on. Maggie knows things. She notices details that other people miss. this is because she has a semisecret after-school gig as a dog walker. so, she is the perfect person to solve the mystery.

Unfortunately, Maggie is also the perfect person to help her ex-best friend, Ivy, recover her lost dog, Kermit. Maggie may not like Ivy anymore, but she's got nothing against Kermit. However, even though Maggie knows a lot about dogs, apparently she doesn't know anything about boys-because she never expected her cruse, Milo, could be involved...

This book is exciting and interesting because there is a sense of mystery and suspense in this story. plus, the sentences written by the writer is easy to understand. although this book may seem so childish, but the message shown is this story is good. for example, this book shows the message on friendship, love towards animals (dogs) and love towards family. additionally, this story also tells me that crime does not pay because in the end, the dognapper is caught and Maggie succeed in solving the mystery.I give this books 5 stars.

Thank you and Assalamualaikum...

My Three Wishes

Assalamualaikum...
Few weeks ago, when Miss Vilivyne was still teaching us, she asked us to choose our own topic and write an essay about it. My group members which are Aina, Nadhrah, Natasha, Yern Fern and me came up with topic on our three wishes. So, today I'm going to post on three wishes that I would asked for if I was given the chance. I know there are many grammatical error in my essay because I'm not good in writing essay especially in English. My English is getting bad and worst. Please leave a comment if there is any mistake in my essay. thanks :D

If you are given the chance to make three wishes, what would your wishes be? Why?

Last night, when I was sitting and watching my usual choice of TV at home, I started thinking about wishes. What is a wish? Basically, a wish is a kind of hope or desire for something. In literature opportunities for making three wishes that will come true are themes that are widely used. In reality, many cultures have a tradition to make wishes in various circumstances and expect them to come true. Such occasions can be making a wish when blowing the birthday candles or seeing a shooting star. Suddenly I realized that we are constantly making wishes. Thus, I sat down and decided to concentrate on formulating mine. Finally, I have arrived to a conclusion on what would I wish for if I was given the chance.

The first wish I came up to is to wish that we, as the students of primary and secondary school, are allowed to wear our normal t-shirt and attire when we come to school instead of school uniform. There are a few reasons for my desire. Firstly, we can save more energy and electricity as we do not have to iron our school uniform. Secondly, our parents would not have to spend money buying the same, new school uniform every year. Try to imagine, if a family have five children. One child will have at least 3 school uniforms. One school uniform can cost about RM 10, so the parents will spend about RM30 for one child. That means the parents would spend about RM 150 for school uniform only. That causes a lot of money to be spent. Additionally, we would not burden our parents by paying more money on school expenses. Instead, they can use the money for food and other needs.

I bet other students will wish that schools never exist. As for me, I would never, ever wish for this as I realized that schools are so important and the knowledge that we gain from teachers are priceless. I am so thankful that we, Malaysians get the chance to study in a peaceful surrounding. However, I wish that the time allocated for the students to be at school would be decreased. What I mean is that I wish we come to school for four days in a week only and the curricular activities are held only on one day. The reason for my second wish is I, as a secondary school student felt so tired especially on weekdays because I have to spend at least 8 hours in school almost everyday for co-academic activities and co-curricular activities.

If this wish comes true, students can get more rest after a whole day in class. This is because the school system does not allocated time for students to have a 1o-minutes-break occasionally between every subject. Sometimes it makes us feel stress. Try to imagine how can a student cope with almost six new different subjectseveryday? Besides, if a single teacher cannot teach every subject, why do they expect us to be excellent in all the subjects? I have no intention to be rude but I just want to show how the school system sometimes aggravates stress. Additionally, if the curricular activities are held on one day only, the students can spend more time for tuition, social activities and homework as well as family. Consequently, this will strengthen the family bond between family members.

Lastly, I wish that the two deadly Ps’ which are Poverty and Pollution to be vanquished. Sometimes, I hate poverty because it forces man to take to evil ways; it eclipses the brightest virtues and rips away all noble thoughts in human. Therefore I wish for poverty to be eliminated because poverty elimination will make the world a much lovelier place to live in.

Mahatma Gandhi once said “there is enough for everyone’s need but not for everyone’s greed”. It is true as Man, in his request to satisfy his greed and make life easier has caused irrepairable damage to our environment. The closest example is just in front of our eyes. Rapid industrialization has led to pollution. Today, we face mounting environmental problems like the Greenhouse Effect, Global Warming, Ozone Layer depletion, Acid Rain and many other implication of pollution. I hope that pollution can be vanquished so that the future generation can live in a better and peaceful place which we called as Earth. Pollution has also killed various types of unique and rare species of flora and fauna which we have not seen before such as Quagga, golden toad and passenger pigeon. Hence, I wish for pollution to be eliminated so that animals and plants would not become endangered and they would not have to face the threat of extinction.

In conclusion I wish for these three things to happen: students can wear normal t-shirt to school, less school hours as well as Poverty and Pollution to be vanquished. However, I always bear in mind to be careful of what I wish for. This holds true because I never know what tomorrow brings. Hence, I would like to end my essay with a simple advice. Whenever you start to wish for something, just stop for a minute and make sure it is what your heart truly desires.

L.O.V.E

Love…is defined as an emotion of a strong affection and personal attachment. It is the emotion that makes enemies into friends, and friends into enemies. This emotion made a mother willing to do anything for the sake of her children. This emotion, bring tears to our eyes when something happens to our family members, friends, and pets.

Robert A. Heinlein once said in one of his books, “Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” This means love is unconditional and sometimes it needs sacrifice. On the other hand, love can make us act irrationally and do something that we would not normally do. What makes thing worst is some people even willing to commit suicide when they feel their love ripped from them. In my opinion all these things would not happen if we throw away all the negative side and accept them with fortitude. If we think positively, we will have the strength to move on in life even though the person we love does not stand by our side anymore.

Love comes from many different levels that it doesn’t appear to be the same emotion at all, but it is. These are the ones we see most in life. The love between us and our creator starts the list off. For a Muslim, our creator is Allah the almighty. Allah has showed that he love us, his humble servants since, we were in our mother’s womb. He gives us two angels that we call them as our parents to take care of us and guide us to the correct path. This does not mean that he hate the orphan and those who are less fortunate. In spite, he tested them to become patient and Allah put their level higher in the Quran until those who treated the orphan badly or even make the orphan crying will be punished in the hereafter.

Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), said, "The best house among the Muslims is the house in which orphans are well treated. The worst house among the Muslims is the house in which orphans are ill treated. I and the guardian of the orphan will be in the Garden like that," indicating his two fingers. This hadith shows that Allah, our creator love us so much that we can never measure his love towards us. However, we as his servant, how much we love him? How many of us are willing to sacrifice all our wealth just because of Allah and Islam?

The second level of love is our love towards our parents. When we talked about our parents, we often thought about the bond between a mother and child. This bond starts from the very first tiny fluttering of movement and never ends, even after death of the child. A mother protects her child in the name of love, and directs them in life using it as the example to follow. There is something that I will never forget about my mother. Money was scarce but we can cope in life with the money we had. My mother was a tailor and she will sew clothes until late night because she wanted to earn more money for our school and daily expenses. I would never forget the day when she did not sleep at all and sew clothes all the night long just to earn money to buy books for me so that I can pass the exam with flying colours. That’s open my eyes and I realize that we can never pay all our mothers love and sacrifice she has done.

Another level of love is among our siblings and family members. Even thought we often annoying them, and sometimes we do not like some of our family member, the bond is still there. It is this family bond level of love that brought the phrase, blood is thicker than water. They are the most important and precious things in our life including our parents. However, what makes me sad is that nowadays siblings are most likely fighting over small matter such as wealth that can break the family bonds between them. In my opinion, these family members must reflect their action and think the effect of their actions towards the family bonds.

Another mentionable level of love is friendship. Without friends, we will be lonely, stressful and feel rejected or ignored. The love between us and our friend become the reason why we miss our friends when we do not see them for a long time. The bond is also the reason why we become close to them, why we are willing to share our secret or problems with them and the reason why we are willing to sacrifice for the sake of our friendship even though they are not our family or siblings. Sometimes, the bond between friends deepens to the point where a stronger bond of love is made, making them a part of our family.

Inconclusion, love comes from many different levels. Try to imagine a world without love. The world will be full of hate, revenge, anger and evil. Helen Fisher once said that a world without love is a deadly place. This shows the phrase love makes the world go round is very true. Therefore, express your love to your parents, friends and siblings by appreciating them.
