L.O.V.E

Love…is defined as an emotion of a strong affection and personal attachment. It is the emotion that makes enemies into friends, and friends into enemies. This emotion made a mother willing to do anything for the sake of her children. This emotion, bring tears to our eyes when something happens to our family members, friends, and pets.

Robert A. Heinlein once said in one of his books, “Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” This means love is unconditional and sometimes it needs sacrifice. On the other hand, love can make us act irrationally and do something that we would not normally do. What makes thing worst is some people even willing to commit suicide when they feel their love ripped from them. In my opinion all these things would not happen if we throw away all the negative side and accept them with fortitude. If we think positively, we will have the strength to move on in life even though the person we love does not stand by our side anymore.

Love comes from many different levels that it doesn’t appear to be the same emotion at all, but it is. These are the ones we see most in life. The love between us and our creator starts the list off. For a Muslim, our creator is Allah the almighty. Allah has showed that he love us, his humble servants since, we were in our mother’s womb. He gives us two angels that we call them as our parents to take care of us and guide us to the correct path. This does not mean that he hate the orphan and those who are less fortunate. In spite, he tested them to become patient and Allah put their level higher in the Quran until those who treated the orphan badly or even make the orphan crying will be punished in the hereafter.

Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), said, "The best house among the Muslims is the house in which orphans are well treated. The worst house among the Muslims is the house in which orphans are ill treated. I and the guardian of the orphan will be in the Garden like that," indicating his two fingers. This hadith shows that Allah, our creator love us so much that we can never measure his love towards us. However, we as his servant, how much we love him? How many of us are willing to sacrifice all our wealth just because of Allah and Islam?

The second level of love is our love towards our parents. When we talked about our parents, we often thought about the bond between a mother and child. This bond starts from the very first tiny fluttering of movement and never ends, even after death of the child. A mother protects her child in the name of love, and directs them in life using it as the example to follow. There is something that I will never forget about my mother. Money was scarce but we can cope in life with the money we had. My mother was a tailor and she will sew clothes until late night because she wanted to earn more money for our school and daily expenses. I would never forget the day when she did not sleep at all and sew clothes all the night long just to earn money to buy books for me so that I can pass the exam with flying colours. That’s open my eyes and I realize that we can never pay all our mothers love and sacrifice she has done.

Another level of love is among our siblings and family members. Even thought we often annoying them, and sometimes we do not like some of our family member, the bond is still there. It is this family bond level of love that brought the phrase, blood is thicker than water. They are the most important and precious things in our life including our parents. However, what makes me sad is that nowadays siblings are most likely fighting over small matter such as wealth that can break the family bonds between them. In my opinion, these family members must reflect their action and think the effect of their actions towards the family bonds.

Another mentionable level of love is friendship. Without friends, we will be lonely, stressful and feel rejected or ignored. The love between us and our friend become the reason why we miss our friends when we do not see them for a long time. The bond is also the reason why we become close to them, why we are willing to share our secret or problems with them and the reason why we are willing to sacrifice for the sake of our friendship even though they are not our family or siblings. Sometimes, the bond between friends deepens to the point where a stronger bond of love is made, making them a part of our family.

Inconclusion, love comes from many different levels. Try to imagine a world without love. The world will be full of hate, revenge, anger and evil. Helen Fisher once said that a world without love is a deadly place. This shows the phrase love makes the world go round is very true. Therefore, express your love to your parents, friends and siblings by appreciating them.
